According to Philips Lighting general manager Dominiek Plancke, if one do not see correctly then some safety aspects like safety brakes become less effective because they come later. He even added that in Germany, the government could save many lives lost in the streets by eighteen percent if people only make use of Xenon headlights to their cars. This is a result of the TUV Rheinland study conducted by a technical services agency.

The European Commission again stressed that the use of car lights should not only be implemented during night time. The commission believes that roughly two thousand street fatalities happen each year in Europe alone. With regards to this, using car lights during day time has been said to be made compulsory.

With such laws to be imposed soon, many critics found themselves saying that this law is just a mere propaganda. The government is just making ways to sell light bulbs and other forms of car lights. These critics also stressed that the use of such modern lights on the streets can only blind motorists substantially, thus creating more danger and havoc to 2-wheeled motorists and pedestrians.
The head of standard driving and chief examiner of IAM or Institute of Advanced Motorists said that the United Kingdom in particular is greatly opposed as only a very small number of British motorists tend to make use of headlights during the day. 

Although vocal oppositions from the British people have been loudly heard, the European Commission made it possible to implement using lights that automatically run during daytime. These lights will turn on automatically the moment the car engine is started. This law is already implemented for a year now and by August 2012, the same thing will also take place in the case of trucks traveling on the European streets.

The European Commission added that the use of such lights is indeed the best way to reduce car-related accidents and every European citizen is expected to comply with such law being imposed in the country for this is for everyone’s safety.

Ignacio Moreno, the CEO of the Hella lighting and the president of Hella’s corporate in Center Mexico, stated that the relation between Volkswagen and Hella is strong since dated back when the first prototype for Beetle was introduced and massed production in the year 1945. Moreno also added that the lighting partnership with the two prestigious brands would continue over years when new models of Beetle will be made.

When replacing headlight bulbs or sidelight bulbs it is recommended, and good sense, to change them both at the same time.
